1. Suspected herdsmen have reportedly burnt down Abomste village, the home town of the Chairman, Gwer West Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, the Ter Tyoshin, Chief Daniel Abomste.

The marauders were also reported to have sacked Sengev District, the home town of the lawmaker representing Gwer/Gwer West federal constituency in the National Assembly, Mr Mark Gbillah, as well as razed houses and farmlands in several communities and districts in the LGA.

2. Audit team from the office of the Benue State Auditor General has commended Governor Samuel Ortom for his accountability, transparency and high standard in execution of projects.The team gave the commendation while inspecting the Benue Geographic Information Service (BENGIS) building project which is almost completed at the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

3. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has condemned in strong terms the violent clash between the Tiv and Jukun communities in Makurdi river side over ownership of fish ponds in the area.

The Governor who received briefings from security agents and the Chairman of Makurdi Local Government, Mr. Tony Dyegeh on the matter called on the two communities to cease hostilities without delay.

4.  Special Assistant to Gov Samuel Ortom on Media, President, Gboko Indigenous Youths Association (GIYA), State chairman, Nigerian Youth Congress, Benue State chapter and State Coordinator, Zone B Youth Movement for Ortom, Hon Isaac Mtom has emerged as the PDP consensus candidate of Gboko LGA for the forthcoming Benue State Local Government election, slated for 7th 2022.

His nomination was unanimous as he was the most favoured by the zoning formula. Everyone around went on wild jubilation as soon as Mtom’s name was pronounced.

5. Ado Local Government Executive Chairman, James Oche has said the attack on Apa-Ogbozu, Anmeka and Ugboghelle communities of the local government is barbaric, inhuman and unacceptable.

Oche, while briefing newsmen in Igumale, the Local Government Headquarters. lamented that the sustained attacks on his people had culminated into the loss of several lives and destruction of properties worth hundreds of millions of naira and called in the security agencies to trail the perpetrators with the view of bringing them to book.

6. The Benue State University, Makurdi, has officially joined the ongoing one month warning strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.A statement signed by the Dr. Mfaga Modom, Registrar called on students to remain calm and continue to study for completion of first semester 2020/2021 examinations.

7. The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, Wednesday, on the floor of the Senate, moved a Motion on the lingering crisis between Ezza community in Ado LGA of Benue State, and Effium community, in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State.

Senator Moro, in the Motion titled, ‘INCESSANT BLOODY CLASHES BETWEEN BORDERING COMMUNITIES OF BENUE AND EBONYI STATES: URGENT NEED FOR SENATE INTERVENTION’, among other things, urged the Senate to impress it on the Federal Ministry of Defense, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant security agencies to, as a matter of urgency, mobilise a security base at the boundaries between the two States to keep the peace.

8. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have invaded Odugbeho and Okokolo communities in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, killing scores and injuring others.Among those who fled are Johnson Ikpeh, a retired Chief Superintendent of Customs and five of his family.

9. The Peoples Democratic Party’s stakeholders in Ado LGA of Benue State have resolved to support the current chairman, James Oche for another term.  The PDP leaders made this known as a meeting held in Igumale on Thursday.

10.  The Senate has confirmed five nominees appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC).The nominees confirmed as Commissioners of the National Population Commission include: Chief Engr. Benedict Ukpong Effiong (Akwa-Ibom), Mrs. Gloria Fateya Izonfo (Bayelsa), Barr. Kupchi Patricia Ori Iyanya (Benue), Dr. Haliru Bala (Kebbi), and Dr. Eyitayo Oyekunle Oyetunji (Oyo).
