Apa/Agatu 2027: House of Reps aspirant, Apochi Nelson Owoicho dumps ADC
A House of Representatives aspirant for the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Hon. Apochi Nelson Owoicho, has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing the need to continue his political journey on a different platform.
Owoicho announced his resignation in a statement addressed to the people of Apa–Agatu, where he said the decision followed “wide consultations and careful reflection” on the realities of politics and the urgent needs of the constituency.
According to him, the decision was not a departure from the ideals and aspirations he shares with his supporters, but a continuation of his commitment to building a peaceful, secure and prosperous Apa–Agatu.
“The past few days have been some of the most difficult in my political journey as I reflected deeply on the realities of our politics, the shrinking civic space, and most importantly, the urgent needs of our people,” he stated.
He lamented the security challenges, displacement, unemployment, poverty and loss of lives affecting communities across Apa–Agatu, stressing that the people deserve better representation, urgency and action.
Owoicho noted that leadership often requires courage and difficult decisions, adding that he chose a path he believes offers greater opportunity for service, impact and collective progress.
The aspirant maintained that his mission remains focused on restoring security and dignity to the people, creating opportunities for youths, strengthening local productivity and ensuring governance works for ordinary citizens.
“This movement has never been about a party alone. It has always been about people, conviction, and the future we believe is possible,” he said.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders, youths, women, elders, professionals, farmers and community leaders toward achieving a better future for Apa–Agatu.
“The journey continues,” Owoicho declared.
