APC’s victory in Mata is guaranteed as PDP fielded a candidate with no PVC, ADC, others not on ground – APC group
Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Mata divide of Ushongo local government have expressed confidence in clinching the Mata State Constituency election in 2027 to ensure the return of Simon Gabo for a second term in the Benue State House of Assembly.
The APC members through a group known as Mata APC Integrity Group for Gabo(MAIGG), through their Secretary, Mr Tertindi Geri stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen.
He stated that, the victory of the current member representing Mata State Constituency, Simon Gabo was guaranteed as he had no serious contender.
He said Gabo’s closest challenger, Mr Bemgba Iortyom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, does not even a Permanent Voters Card(PVC) to vote in the election and be voted for.
He wondered how someone will be contesting an election when he knows he can’t vote for himself.
He disclosed that the source of his information was from reliable sources in Mbagba council ward, where Mr Iortyom hails from, and challenged those in doubt to verify from those who voted in the last election at LGEA Primary School Atekombo, Mbagba Council Ward of Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State.
He continued that the voting status of Mr Iortyom has not changed, adding that the result the PDP candidate posted in 2023 were not from his a polling unit he voted, because he has no PVC to exercise his franchise.
He added that, apart from Mr Iortyom not being able to vote for himself in the election, the PDP candidate has no goodwill in Mbagba and Mata in general, saying, the former State Publicity Secretary of the PDP misused his goodwill with his politics of exclusion and high hadednes.
He further described Mr Iortyom as a liability even to his party as he can’t vote even for the parties governorship, senatorial or House of Representatives candidates.
On the African Democratic Congress(ADC), Accord Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) and other, the scribe of MAIGG disclosed that those political parties were not on ground in Mata, therefore it was a waste of time talking about them.
He concluded by calling on APC members in Mata and Ushongo to unite and work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections.
