Audu Ogbe is a winner (Opinion)
By: Dr. Adakole Friday Elijah
I have been dumbfounded by the refuse of insolence being piled on Chief Audu Ogbe by some of his kinsmen and “women” over noninclusion of his name in the ministerial list.
One thing that is obvious with this list that could be tagged as President Buhari’s first eleven is that most of the nominees do not possess Ogbe’s pedigree. Ogbe is a round peg in a round hole any day, anytime. He knows his onions and that accounted for his ministerial status in two different political epochs.
In Shagari’s government, Audu Ogbe, who was a Minister of Communication was visibly the best. General Buhari, the no nonsense Head of State then even attested to the credibility of Chief Ogbe. He remains the only minister in Shagari regime that was not tried of financial malfeasance.
When the anti corruption czar, Buhari, became the president, he did not look far to pluck him into his government. And he revolutionazed the agricultural sector which today stand as the most vital component of our economy after oil.
If there was any minister that gave President Buhari’s government credibility, that minister was Chief Ogbe.
Therefore, his exclusion from the Federal Executive Council is not going to be a loss to the Idoma nation but that of the whole country.
Instead of mocking him for not making it this time around, me think he should be celebrated. Everything in life has it’s exit point.
But for those of us who are conversant with Chief Audu Ogbe’s chequered political history, we know that his end has not come. He will still bounce back. Watch and see.
Congratulations Chief Audu Ogbe.
