The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has asked for the immediate arrest of popular Muslim cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, over alleged involvement with bandits.

Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the OYC president-general, said Gumi was part of the security problems in the country.

He alleged that there was glaring evidence that Gumi was in a deep romance with terrorists.

Nnabuike said: There is no doubt that Nigeria is at a crossroads in its journey to nationhood. Never in the history of the country has it witnessed such orge of violence and criminality being perpetrated by terrorists hiding under different nomenclatures.

“However, more worrisome is the fact that the chief mobilizer and the spokesman of the terrorists, Sheikh Gumi has been left to be walking freely despite clear evidence that he was part of Nigeria’s security problems.”
According to Vanguard, Nnabuike criticised the Muslim cleric for his comparison of bandits with the Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu.

He accused Gumi of making his divisive comments on the issue of banditry.
