Terror struck Solozo Market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area on Friday as armed men launched a broad daylight attack, leaving one person dead, another injured, and a woman abducted.

According to security expert Zagazola, the gunmen estimated to be six in number and riding on three Bajaj motorcycles invaded the market at about 2:20 p.m., allegedly targeting traders who had come to purchase pepper.

During the assault, 29-year-old trader Imoter Denen, from Harga Village, was shot dead on the spot. A woman, identified as Nguveren Iorwuese from Solozo Town, was whisked away by the assailants to an unknown location.

Another trader, Saater Akwaza, sustained injuries after being hit by a stray bullet. The attackers also made away with two motorcycles before escaping the area.

Security operatives responded promptly to the distress call and combed nearby areas in a bid to track down the assailants, but the suspects had already fled.

The injured victim was taken to the General Hospital in Katsina-Ala for medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were handed over to his family for burial, in line with their request.
