BREAKING: FCT Police suspend enforcement of tinted glass permit

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has suspended the enforcement of the vehicle tinted glass permit.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed this development on Wednesday during an interview with AIT, saying the suspension followed a court order halting the exercise.

According to Adeh, the police officially received the court order directing the suspension of the enforcement.

“Information reaching me from the office of the PRO is that the order has been received and the enforcement of the tinted permit is now on hold pending the court’s verdict,” she said.

Adeh explained that the suspension would remain in place until the conclusion of the ongoing legal process.

“We are waiting for the verdict. We are not against the courts, and we will continue to wait until we get a verdict,” she added.

The police spokesperson further noted that the tinted glass permit policy was introduced for security purposes, adding that it became necessary after some criminal elements began using vehicles with darkened windows to commit offences.

“The law was not made by us; we are enforcers. The policy was purely security-driven. Some criminals were using tinted vehicles to commit crimes, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify suspects,” she said.
