Former Anambra Governor, Obiano arraigned by EFCC for alleged fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken former Anambra State Governor, Willie Maduabuchi Obiano, to Courtroom 5 of the Federal High Court in Abuja for arraignment on charges of alleged fraud.
Dressed in a navy blue suit and a black cap, Obiano was escorted into the courtroom by over 10 operatives of the anti-graft agency. Arriving at the court premises in an 18-seater Toyota Bus marked ABC 573 KQ at around 8 am, he remained inside the vehicle briefly before being ushered into the courtroom.
Surrounded by four EFCC operatives, Obiano was shielded from his followers and sympathizers attempting to access him.
The legal team set to defend Obiano remains unknown, but over 50 lawyers are already present in the courtroom.
Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo, scheduled to preside over the case, is anticipated to take Obiano’s plea in response to the nine-count charge of alleged N4 billion fraud brought against him by the Federal Government through the EFCC.
The court officials are on standby for the proceedings.
