Klopp to leave Liverpool at end of season
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to step down from his role at the end of the season, citing a depletion of energy as the primary reason. Klopp, who took on the position in October 2015 with a contract initially set to run until 2026, achieved significant success with Liverpool, including winning the Champions League in 2019 and securing the club’s first league title in 30 years in the 2019-20 season.
Despite his deep affection for the club, the city, supporters, team, and staff, Klopp revealed that he informed the club about his decision back in November. He acknowledged that the news may come as a shock but emphasized that, after careful consideration, he is convinced that stepping down is the right move.
Expressing immense love and gratitude for every aspect of Liverpool, Klopp noted that his decision is driven by a sense of running out of energy. He assured that he is in good spirits and believes it is essential to be transparent with the fans and everyone involved in the club.
The announcement comes with Liverpool currently leading the Premier League, adding an element of surprise to Klopp’s decision.
