Twelve persons abducted by Boko Haram from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State have escaped from captivity and are now safe.

According to Daily Trust, a source in Pulka said the victims—comprising 10 males and two females—fled during intensified military operations in the area, which forced the insurgents to abandon some of their captives.

The source explained that the insurgents retreated with most of those held, leaving a few behind amid the pressure from ongoing operations.

The Borno South Youth Alliance confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the escape occurred on Wednesday and that the victims have since reached a nearby town.

The escapees were identified as Aisha Audu (20), Hajara Audu (18 months), Aisha Idrisa (17), Hafsat Idrisa (4 months), Aisha Abubakar Bama (22), Maryam Umar (11 months), Zainabu Umar Mbasuwa (22), Salma Abubakar (2 months), Musa Umar (7), Suleiman Umar (9), Aisha Abubakar (17), and Aisha Musa (10).

It will be recalled that about 416 persons were abducted during the March 4, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community.

The insurgent group had earlier released a video issuing a 72-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government and Borno State Government, threatening to kill the captives if their demands were not met.
