The University of Nigeria Nsukka has taken action against Mfonobong David Udoudom, a lecturer in the School of General Studies, following reports of his alleged misconduct toward a female student. Udoudom has been suspended pending further investigation after a video surfaced purportedly showing him in a compromising situation with a married student in his office. The incident led to his arrest by the police and subsequent detention.

Although the exact date of the incident couldn’t be independently verified by SaharaReporters, a widely circulated video on social media depicts Udoudom in his boxers. The university clarified in an official statement released by Acting Public Relations Officer, Chief Okwun Omeaku, that Udoudom does not hold the title of Professor.

The institution emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment, citing a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct. It underscored its existing Sexual Harassment Policy, aimed at fostering appropriate interactions between staff and students, as well as among faculty members. The university asserted that it will await the outcome of a disciplinary panel’s inquiry before determining further actions regarding Udoudom’s status.

The statement reaffirmed the university’s dedication to safeguarding its students from any form of abuse or exploitation, with the assurance that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken if Udoudom is found guilty according to the university’s regulations.
