Champions League club, Sporting CP interested in Ronaldo

Sporting CP have communicated to Cristiano Ronaldo’s camp that they are interested in discussing a transfer of the Manchester United star.

Over the past few weeks, Ronaldo and his agents have repeatedly informed United that the 37-year-old wants to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes. Ronaldo only moved from Juventus to United a year ago.

In order to improve his record as the competition’s all-time leading scorer, the Portuguese captain is dissatisfied at United and wants to join a club competing in this year’s Champions League.

Ronaldo has one year left on his contract with United, though the team has the option to extend it by another 12 months. He had thought about returning to the team where he first found success after his deal with United expires in either 2023 or 2024.

Sporting will participate in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign, while United, currently in last place in the Premier League after two rounds of matches, will compete in the Europa League after placing sixth in the previous season.

The other teams that have shown interest in Ronaldo this summer are Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
