Three vandals have been sentenced to six months in prison by a Federal High Court in Dutse, Jigawa State.

The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended the culprits as they were in the act of vandalizing solar security lights in Gujungu town, Taura local government, in March 2023.

Kabiru M. Musa, Umar Adam Abdullahi, and Shafi’u Hamza were among those arrested and brought before Honorable Justice Hassan Dikko of the Dutse Division of the Federal High Court, Jigawa State.

They were arraigned before the Federal Higher Court on two counts of criminal conspiracy and tampering with electric fittings ( two ROY 12V/150Ah solar batteries and charge controller).

The crime is contrary to Section 97 of the Penal Code and Section 1(10) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

The defendants pleaded guilty to all counts of charges.

The presiding judge, Justice Dikko, thereafter convicted and sentenced them to six months imprisonment without an option of a fine.

He equally ordered them to re-install the tampered properties.
