Dangote Refinery exports first PMS shipment to Cameroon
Dangote Refinery has officially commenced the export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon, marking its first-ever international shipment and a significant milestone for Africa’s largest oil refinery.
This groundbreaking export, announced in a statement by Dangote Refinery on Wednesday, results from a strategic partnership with Neptune Oil, a leading energy firm based in Cameroon.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, celebrated the achievement, stating:
“This first export of PMS to Cameroon demonstrates our commitment to fostering a united and energy-independent Africa. It underscores our vision of refining and utilizing African resources within the continent to benefit its people.”
The collaboration is expected to strengthen Cameroon’s energy sector, with Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, describing it as a transformative moment:
“This partnership with Dangote Refinery is pivotal for Cameroon. By sourcing petroleum products from this state-of-the-art refinery, we enhance our energy security and support economic growth.”
Notably, the export was conducted without the involvement of international intermediaries, reflecting a shared focus on promoting intra-African trade and economic independence.
Both Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil are exploring further initiatives to establish a stable supply chain that could help regulate fuel prices and create new economic opportunities across the region.
For Nigeria, this milestone demonstrates Dangote Refinery’s capacity to meet domestic energy demands while emerging as a key player in the regional market. Located in Lagos, the refinery boasts a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, making it the largest single-train refinery globally.
“This development highlights the refinery’s capabilities and underscores our commitment to driving energy transformation across Africa,” Dangote added.
Neptune Oil echoed this sentiment, reaffirming its dedication to sustainable and independent energy solutions.
“This initial supply symbolizes our resolve to serve local markets efficiently and sustainably,” Ndzengue emphasized.
This collaboration marks the beginning of a new era in African energy cooperation, with the potential to reshape trade dynamics and accelerate economic growth across the continent.
