DSS replaces Tinubu’s Chief Security Officer

The Department of State Services (DSS) has removed Adegboyega Fasasi as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, replacing him with Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director, according to The Nation.

While the reasons for Fasasi’s removal remain unclear as of Sunday evening, sources suggest the move was prompted by DSS Director-General Tosin Ajayi, who reportedly requested President Tinubu’s approval to release Fasasi for a strategic training course.

One insider explained that such a “change of guards” often occurs when the DSS gets a new Director-General, as they prefer to appoint trusted individuals to key positions, particularly within the Presidency. “The office of the CSO to the President is at the top of that list,” the source told The Nation.

The Presidency has yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.
