Wike approves promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT civil servants
The promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) commenced on Wednesday following approval by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, announced the commencement of the exercise in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to Ezeh, the Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion exercise will run for 10 days, with over 13,000 officers across 150 cadres and grade levels expected to participate.
He said the exercise forms part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects the administration’s commitment to career progression within the civil service.
“As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT Civil Servants for the year 2025.
“The exercise is expected to commence on July 1, 2026, for a period of ten days.
“The Minister further directed the Commission to ensure that the 2026 promotion exercise is also conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers are given the opportunity to grow in the service. He directed the Commission to work with all relevant agencies of the FCTA to ensure a hitch-free exercise such that all issues which arose from the previous exercise do not repeat themselves,” the statement read.
Ezeh assured participants that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise. He appealed to candidates to remain patient throughout the process and wished them success in the promotion examination.
He also recalled that the FCT Civil Service Commission became the first civil service commission in Nigeria to conduct its promotion exercise through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in 2024, less than six months after the commission was inaugurated in March of that year.
