Former Leicester City coach, Shakespeare diagnosed with cancer

Leicester City have revealed that their former manager, Craig Shakespeare, has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 59-year-old, who also served the club in multiple stints as an assistant manager, is presently undergoing treatment.

In a statement shared on the club’s official communication platform, X (previously known as Twitter), Leicester City stated: “Former Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has revealed that he has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment.”

The club also expressed their gratitude for the supportive well-wishes and the respect for privacy shown to Craig Shakespeare and his family during this challenging period.

Shakespeare, a former midfielder for Walsall and West Brom, had two assistant managerial roles at Leicester City, first under Nigel Pearson and then under Claudio Ranieri during the Foxes’ remarkable Premier League title-winning campaign in 2016. Additionally, he held the position of temporary manager when Ranieri was dismissed in 2017, later becoming the permanent manager before parting ways with the club after four months in that role.
