The Fulanis in Ado have arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Mr. Ogoh Onyekachi and handed him over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Mr. Ogoh who confessed to the crime said, he in the company of 5 others now at large came from Ogbete Village in Enugu State and invaded Igene community under Apa Ward of Ado Local Government of Benue State, where they rustled and killed two cows. Luck ran out on him while trying to escape as he was traced and caught by the Fulanis while his accomplice took to their heels, leaving behind the cows.

This is coming barely a week after a meeting between the Fulanis and the Ado Leaders and Stakeholders was held with the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr Benson Abounu where the Fulanis promised to help uncover wrong doers and support the cause against criminality in Ado.

Reacting, Alhaji Ibro, Leader of Ado Fulanis said the development was an eye opener to the Fulanis as to the innocence of the Ado people. He said it was clear that, outsiders were taking advantage of the perceived enmity between them to perpetuate crime and turn the Fulanis and Ado people against each other.

Ado Local Government Chairman, James Oche has appreciated the Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom and His Deputy, Engr Benson Abounu for the much support accorded Ado people in their fight against insecurity. He said it was clear that the meeting with the Deputy Governor was yielding results and stated further that, if the positive attitude against criminality is sustained, crime would be a thing of the past.
