Gana: Mixed reactions trail killing of Benue number one terrorist, Terwase Akwaza

Nigerians, particularly, natives of Benue State, have expressed divergence opinions over the killing of terrorist, Terwase Akwaza, famously know as Gana.

IDOMA VOICE had reported that Gana gunned down by men of the Operation Whirl Stroke, after hiding for four years.

Gana was forcefully taken away by a team of military men while he and other repentant youths were on their way to Makurdi where they were to be given amnesty by the State Security Council.

He was later killed.

However, the decision of the military men to kill did not go down with many members of the society, who described the development as unfair.

Here are some comments gartered by IDOMA VOICE.

ERIC AMODU:

KILLING OF GANA: A PROOF THAT WE’VE NOT LEARNT ANY BITTER LESSON FROM THE KILLING OF MOHAMMED YUSUF

In 2009, the military, after capturing the Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf, they handed him over to the police who murdered him in cold blood. That terrible act was thought to put an end to the sect’s insurgent activities but lo they were mistaken as Yusuf’s followers, determined to avenge their leader’s unlawful execution formed even a more lethal group that has continued to kill and mane innocent civilians and uniformed personnel in markets, churches, mosques, police stations, military bases and barracks, higher institutions, secondary schools and streets all over the north east, FCT and other parts of the country ever since.

The security agency has refused to learn from the Yusuf mistakes and has committed a more deadly blunder by killing one Terwase Akwaza notoriously known as Gana, a notorious bandit who has been terrorizing a part of the Tiv nation alongside his group.

An amnesty was reportedly arranged for the criminals to cease fire and Gana was among the bandits who decided to embrace the governor Samuel Ortom’s amnesty offer but unknown to him he was on his way to his brutal death. The soldiers arrested and murdered him.

Had they left Mohammed Yusuf in prison, probably the Boko Haram gory tale in the aftermath of his killing would have been different.

May God save Benue!

KING SHADRACH

The killing of Gana that occurred today is totally in flagrant abuse of the Geneva Convention. Men should be guarded by rules, lest we fall lower than animals.

#The military was wrong in killing Gana.

GIDEON ADEJO PAUL

Bad or good every man shall taste death!!

Exactly how they handled the first leader of Boko Haram,

The same way they are doing to the sect in Benue.
