Benue State Government, has fired back at Bishop Sam Zuga over his recent attack on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dist. Senator George Akume, and other political leaders in the state.

Zuga had accused them of instigating conflict and hindering progress in Benue State, IDOMA VOICE reports.

Reacting, Comrade Asortar James Asortar, SA to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Social Media, described Zuga’s comment as baseless, lies and should be discarded in its entirety.

His statement reads below.

In recent days, the public sphere has been tainted by the reprehensible remarks of Mr. Sam Zuga, who has seen fit to launch a scathing attack on the integrity and character of the Tiv nation, esteemed political leaders, and religious figures.

His baseless accusations, riddled with falsehoods and malice, demand a resolute response rooted in truth and dignity.

Firstly, Zuga’s unfounded assertion that the entire Tiv nation is selfish and obstructive is not only a gross misrepresentation but also a slanderous assault on the collective identity of a proud and resilient people. The Tiv community is renowned for its hospitality, solidarity, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of its members.

To suggest otherwise is not only ignorant but also deeply disrespectful to the rich cultural heritage of the Tiv people.

Moreover, Zuga’s reckless accusations against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dist. Senator George Akume, and other political leaders are equally reprehensible.

Accusing them of instigating conflict and hindering progress in Benue State is not only devoid of truth but also a malicious attempt to sow discord and division. Both the SGF, Senator Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia have dedicated their lives to public service, tirelessly advocating for the interests of their constituents, including the Tiv people. Impugning their character without evidence is not only irresponsible but also morally reprehensible.

Furthermore, Zuga’s disrespectful demeanor towards the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is deeply troubling. Governor Alia, a man of impeccable integrity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people, deserves the utmost respect and admiration.

To denigrate his character and disparage his contributions to the development of Benue State is not only unjust but also a gross betrayal of trust.

It is worth noting that before assuming the role of Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia spent over two decades serving as a Roman Catholic Priest, dedicating his life to serving God and humanity.

His selfless devotion to the betterment of society has touched countless lives and transformed communities across Benue State. To suggest that Governor Alia owes his success to anyone other than his unwavering faith in God and tireless dedication to the people of Benue is not only absurd but also deeply offensive.

Moreover, Zuga’s allegations regarding financial support during Governor Alia’s campaign are nothing short of absurd. The notion that Governor Alia would accept financial contributions from individuals in exchange for political favors is not only preposterous but also insulting to his integrity and commitment to ethical governance. Governor Alia’s leadership is guided by principles of honesty, transparency, and accountability, and any insinuation to the contrary is a blatant falsehood.

In light of these egregious transgressions, we demand that Mr. Sam Zuga issue a public apology to the SGF, Senator George Akume, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Tiv nation, and the entire Benue State.

His slanderous accusations have caused untold harm to the reputation of these esteemed individuals and the collective dignity of the Tiv people. A failure to retract his statements and offer a sincere apology within 48 hours will only further tarnish his already damaged credibility.

Mr. Sam Zuga’s reckless accusations against the Tiv nation and its leaders are utterly without merit and must be unequivocally condemned. His divisive rhetoric only serves to sow discord and undermine the unity and progress of Benue State.

We urge him to retract his statements, issue a public apology, and refrain from further engaging in inflammatory and defamatory speech. The Tiv people deserve better, and it is incumbent upon all of us to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and unity that define our community.
