Group urges Philip Agbese to return to APC as Alia, Akume finally reconcile
Following the recent reconciliation between Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, a socio-political group, Enone United Youth Forum, has called on the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese, to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Agbese had earlier defected from the APC to the Labour Party at the height of the internal crisis that rocked the ruling party in Benue State.
However, addressing journalists on Sunday, the leader of the group, Samuel Ikor, said the reconciliation between the two political leaders has effectively resolved the issues that led to divisions within the party.
Ikor noted that with peace now restored, there was no justification for Agbese to remain outside the APC, urging him to “return home” in the interest of unity and development of Enone land.
“The crisis that led to his exit has been resolved. We believe it is time for him to return to the APC and join hands with other stakeholders to move the constituency and the state forward,” he said.
The group maintained that Agbese’s return would further strengthen the party in Benue South and consolidate the gains of the recent reconciliation.
They also appealed to other aggrieved members who may have left the party during the crisis to reconsider their positions and reunite with the APC.
