Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala opened up about her unlikely journey to becoming a professional footballer. Despite her incredible success as a five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Oshoala admitted that football was never her initial dream.

Speaking on Karen Carney’s Leaders Of The Pack podcast, Oshoala disclosed that her true aspiration was to become a lawyer. She had envisioned herself in the courtroom, engaging in rigorous research, questioning people, and passionately defending her friends even when they were wrong.

“I never wanted to play football professionally. It was never in my plan,” Oshoala admitted.

Karen Carney, intrigued by the revelation, asked about Oshoala’s original plan and aspirations. The talented footballer replied, “So I wanted to be a lawyer, for real. That was my dream. I wanted to be a lawyer. You know, I love to make research. I love to question people. I love to make excuses for people. And all of that, you know.”
