Idoma Community UK set for maiden convention in London
The Idoma Community United Kingdom (ICUK) has concluded plans to host its maiden Idoma Convention in London as part of efforts to promote unity, preserve the Idoma cultural heritage and strengthen ties among members of the diaspora.
The convention, themed around unity and cultural preservation, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. on Congreve Street, London SE17 1TJ, United Kingdom.
The organisers said the event would bring together Idoma sons and daughters living across the United Kingdom and beyond to celebrate their shared heritage while fostering stronger community bonds.
The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
According to the organisers, the convention will feature cultural displays, networking opportunities and discussions aimed at advancing the interests of the Idoma people in the diaspora.
With the theme, “Opiatoha ofu (strenght in unity),” the organisers said the gathering is expected to reinforce the values of unity, identity and collective development among Idoma people in the United Kingdom.
They also called on members of the Idoma community and friends of the ethnic nationality to participate in what they described as a historic inaugural convention.
