I’ll win again in 2027, Benue South people are still with me — Abba Moro
The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, has expressed confidence that he will secure another term in office in the 2027 general elections.
Moro made the declaration on Thursday while speaking with journalists in his office at the National Assembly ahead of the June 12 Democracy Day celebration.
The lawmaker said the people of Benue South would renew his mandate based on his performance and the numerous constituency projects he has attracted to the district since his election to the Senate.
According to him, communities across Benue South have benefited from road construction projects, bridges, healthcare centres, water schemes, rural electrification, classroom construction and youth empowerment programmes.
“I have not finished with my people yet, and my people have not finished with me,” Moro declared.
The Senate Minority Leader maintained that his stewardship would ultimately determine whether the people return him to office, insisting that he still has much more to offer the district.
Moro said he remains committed to attracting more development projects and providing effective representation for the people of Benue South.
Speaking on the state of the nation, the senator described Nigeria’s democracy as a work in progress, noting that although the country has sustained democratic governance for 27 years, significant challenges remain.
He expressed concern over rising inflation, unemployment, poverty and insecurity, saying many Nigerians are struggling to cope with the increasing cost of living.
“Nigerians are hurting. Inflation is on the rise, unemployment is on the rise, poverty is increasing and insecurity is worsening,” he said.
The senator also raised concerns over the security situation in Benue State, urging governments at all levels to take more proactive measures to protect lives and property.
On the performance of the 10th Senate under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Moro highlighted what he described as notable legislative achievements.
According to him, about 844 bills have been introduced in the Senate, with approximately 96 passed and more than 50 already receiving presidential assent.
Despite the challenges confronting the country, Moro urged Nigerians not to lose hope.
“Building a nation is work in progress. We are not where we are supposed to be, but we must keep hope alive and believe that the efforts being made today will eventually yield results,” he said.
He also wished Nigerians a happy Democracy Day celebration and called for collective efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and improve the welfare of citizens.
