I’m afraid of marriage – Actress Kiitan Bukola
Nollywood actress Kiitan Bukola has opened up about her personal struggles and how her childhood experiences have influenced her views on marriage.
In an interview with Biola Bayo, Bukola shared that while she cherishes the idea of marriage, she harbors deep fears about it due to her strong desire to provide a stable and loving home for her future children.
The actress revealed that her apprehensions are rooted in her upbringing, which was marked by the absence of her father. She disclosed that her father had several children, many of whom she has never met, and some of whom she only connected with online.
“The absence of paternal love and care has left a lasting impact on me,” Bukola explained, reflecting on how these experiences have shaped her aspirations for family life and her concerns about marriage.
Bukola’s heartfelt revelations shed light on the emotional challenges she continues to face as she strives to break the cycle and create a nurturing environment for her future family.
“I love marriage but at the same time, I am scared of it. I don’t want to end up having kids outside wedlock. There are some of my father’s children that I don’t know. The funny thing is, I met some online. I didn’t get the fatherly care I wanted. I yearned for the parental love—a father and mother together. I wanted to experience that home life, but it hurts because I never really had that,” she shared.
Bukola also reflected on her humble beginnings, recounting how she used to hawk pounded yam and efo soup in Sabo, Ondo State, as a child.
“I used to hawk pounded yam and efo back in the days. I would wake up at 3:30 am because we had to take it to Sabo in Ondo town,” she recalled.
