Israel-Gaza war: Khalid Mashal declares Friday Global Day of Jihad

Khalid Mashal, former Hamas leader and founding member, has called for a global jihad and widespread protests in support of the Palestinians amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel. He specifically urged Muslims to apply jihad on the ground and not just in theory, emphasizing action over rhetoric.

The call, labeled as the “Friday of Al-Aqsa flood” on October 13, encourages Muslims worldwide to express their anger and protest, particularly in Muslim-majority countries and among Muslim diaspora. Additionally, Mashal appealed for financial support, coining it as ‘Financial Jihad,’ to aid those affected by the conflict in Gaza and compensate for the destruction.

Mashal further urged for political pressure from Muslim leaders and nations to halt Israel’s military invasion of Gaza. Importantly, he called upon Muslims globally to fight and be martyrs for Al-Aqsa, urging them to take action against Israel, starting with Muslims residing in surrounding countries such as Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. He emphasized the need for physical engagement, urging individuals to reach the borders and attempt entry into Palestine.

Following this call to action, Hamas militants attacked Israel on Saturday, resulting in casualties and further escalation in the region.
