A man known as Alabo was apprehended by the Rivers State Police Command for reportedly attacking his female tenant and her spouse with a machete at Ekwulobia Street in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The incident unfolded on May 15, 2022, when the landlord, allegedly reacting in fury after Comfort Nwagadi declined his romantic advances, inflicted numerous machete wounds on her. He also assaulted the woman’s husband, who attempted to rescue her, causing severe injuries to him as well.

After the assaults, the landlord promptly fled the scene. Nevertheless, the police successfully tracked down and arrested Alabo on Sunday after several months of pursuit.

Nwagadi confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a voice message sent to a correspondent, expressing a desire for justice following the traumatic incident.

The case file was moved from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department Unit of the command by the directive of the then Commissioner of Police, according to PUNCH Online reports.

When approached for comment, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, mentioned she would gather information from the Azikiwe Police Station but had not yet provided an update by the time of compiling this report on Monday.
