Mbappe equals Ibrahimovic’s Champions League goal record in PSG victory
Paris Saint-Germain’s star forward Kylian Mbappe on Tuesday reached a significant milestone by matching the UEFA Champions League goalscoring record of former PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mbappe achieved this feat with a remarkable brace against Barcelona in the second leg of their quarter-final encounter.
The French captain converted a penalty in the 61st minute and capitalized on an error by Jules Kounde to score his second goal in the 89th minute, securing PSG’s 6-4 aggregate victory.
With this, the 25-year-old has now tallied 48 goals in 71 Champions League appearances, equalling Ibrahimovic’s record of 48 goals in 124 games. Mbappe will have the opportunity to surpass Ibrahimovic’s record in PSG’s upcoming semi-final clash against Borussia Dortmund.
