  1. The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has ruled in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), overturning the victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the March 18 election. Yusuf, who ran under the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), had initially been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    Nasir Gawuna, his APC rival, extended his congratulations to Yusuf but the APC proceeded to challenge the results in court. Subsequently, the three-member tribunal ordered the withdrawal of Yusuf’s certificate of return, directing that a certificate of return be issued to Gawuna instead.

  2. The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed its intention to expel former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party. The party conveyed its decision for Fayose’s expulsion to the National Working Committee (NWC), citing his anti-party actions and those of other PDP leaders in the state as reasons.

    Chief Olalekan Amerijoye, the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Transition Committee, made this announcement to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday. He emphasized that the party would no longer tolerate the detrimental activities that were contrary to the party’s principles and interests.

  3. A young doctor, identified as Dr. Umoh Michael died on Sunday after allegedly working 72 hours straight.

    According to reports, Michael died during a church service at the United Evangelical Church on September 17. He was said to have worked a 72-hour non-stop shift at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he was a resident doctor.

  4. A court in Chicago, United States, has instructed Chicago State University (CSU) to provide all documents pertaining to Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s enrollment at the university to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar within 48 hours.

    This ruling came on Tuesday following a request by Atiku, who sought the documents to substantiate that Tinubu was not qualified to run for the presidential election at the time he did.

  5. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing conflict between Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu.

    Recent reports reveal a prolonged dispute between Obaseki and Shaibu, mainly triggered by Shaibu’s aspiration to succeed Obaseki in 2024 without the latter’s endorsement.

  6. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has said there will be no room for a fantastic celebration for the 2023 Independence Day anniversary.

  7. The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kayode Ariwoola, has sworn in nine Justices of the Court of Appeal.

    Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday in Abuja, Ariwoola asked the new judges to conduct themselves well, stating that the level of public scrutiny of their behaviour would be high.

  8. Former presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has said the Nigerian media deliberately misquoted his statements when he was working for former President Muhammadu Buhari.

    Adesina stated this on Wednesday at a media chat organised by the Association of Veteran Journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

  9. The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18th governorship election held in the state.

  10. The recently appointed special adviser to Vice President Kashim Shettima on political matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has disclosed that the Labour Party (LP) has his support to challenge the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu at the Supreme Court.
