Naira gains again as Nigeria’s external reserves hit $43.28bn
The Naira appreciated against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday marking its second gain this week as Nigeria’s external reserves climbed to $43.28 billion.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira rose to ₦1,436.74 per dollar, compared to ₦1,438.49 on Wednesday, reflecting a daily gain of ₦1.76.
In the parallel market, the local currency also strengthened, trading at ₦1,445 per dollar on Thursday, up from ₦1,450 the previous day, according to multiple Bureau De Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
Over the past four trading days, the Naira has experienced mixed performance in the FX market, recording two sessions of appreciation and two of depreciation.
The latest improvement in the currency’s value coincides with an increase in the nation’s external reserves, which stood at $43.28 billion as of November 4, 2025.
