Obi–Kwankwaso alliance stirs hopes of national unity — Ulasi
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said the growing political alignment between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso signals ongoing efforts to build national consensus ahead of future elections.
Ulasi noted that both leaders wield considerable influence in their respective regions, adding that any collaboration between them could significantly reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
Speaking on The Morning Show on Thursday, Ulasi described the emerging Obi–Kwankwaso dynamic as part of a broader bridge-building process across the country.
“The Peter Obi–Kwankwaso effect is part of the process we are building—creating bridges across this country. Kwankwaso is not a name you dismiss in the North, just as Peter Obi is not one you ignore in the South,” he said.
He further argued that a potential alliance could align with Nigeria’s informal power rotation principle, noting that the North has completed eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, leaving room for a southern presidency.
Ulasi expressed optimism that if both politicians unite and one emerges as president, the outcome could usher in a new era of development and progress for Nigeria.
“The concept of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso will turn out to be an exciting and strong political process which, if successful, will usher in a new era of development for this country,” he added.
He also claimed that based on current political trends, Obi stands a strong chance of emerging as Nigeria’s next president.
