One dead, three feared trapped as two-storey building collapses in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Monday afternoon as a two-storey building under construction collapsed, leaving one person dead, nine rescued, and three others feared trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident occurred at Otta Ona Junction, near the Mobil Gas Station.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the building was still under construction when it gave way. Upon receiving a distress call, emergency response teams from Agbowa and Alausa were immediately deployed to the scene.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that nine adult males were rescued and received medical attention on-site from the agency’s Pre-hospital Care unit. He added that three individuals were still unaccounted for and feared trapped.
“Search and rescue operations began immediately upon arrival. A safety perimeter was set up, and excavation of the debris is ongoing to locate the trapped victims,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue efforts were still underway.
