Why Peter Obi may lose LP 2023 candidacy
As the 2023 election gathers momentum, the factional chairman and gubernatorial flagbearer of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Ifagbemi Awamaridi, has said that attempts by some individuals in the opposition party to take over his positions as the “bonafide chairman and governorship candidate of the party” can lead to the nullification of the presidential candidacy of Peter Obi.
It was gathered that Awamaridi maintained that he was neither sacked nor replaced through any constitutional process.
Peter Obi better than Atiku, Tinubu – Datti
Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahed, has said that the party’s presidential flag bearer, Peter Obi, has what it takes to return Nigeria to the right path of development.
Baba-Ahmed disclosed this in Kano during a visit to the state to commiserate with the victims of Beirut Road GSM and Kantin Kwari textile markets over the building collapse and flooding incidents, respectively, at both markets.
He said, “Nigeria has never had it so well in terms of choice of candidate available to voters with the emergence of Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, as a Presidential candidate.

Social media commentator, Deji Adeyanju has said it is better for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to emerge president in 2023 than his Labour Party’s counterpart, Peter Obi.
Adeyanju said Tinubu, whom he described as a destroyer is better than Obi and his supporters who he labelled as tyrants.
He wrote, “May Obidents never happen to Nigeria in Jesus mighty name. Amen! They have threatened fellow citizens with death threats and offered nothing but insults in the name of politics . They will never ever go anywhere close to Aso Rock. It is better for Tinubu the destroyer to be in Aso Rock than these tyrants.”
2023: Peter Obi may buy votes like Atiku, Tinubu – Adeyanju
Sociopolitical commentator, Deji Adeyanju has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, may also buy votes like his counterparts in the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to Adeyanju, the ideology of Obi not giving ‘shi shi’ is gradually eroding.
He tweeted, “Obi may buy votes or pay agents/canvassers last last like APC and PDP. Their ideology of not giving Shi Shi is gradually moving. Are the people no longer structure, why do you need to build one?”
Peter Obi, Tinubu not my preferred presidential candidate – Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that he has no preferred candidate among those contesting the 2023 presidential election.
Obasanjo, who stated this in Minna on Sunday when he paid former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar a visit, said he only had a national agenda not a preferred candidate.
“I don’t have a special candidate, I have a national agenda.”
90-year-old woman joins Peter Obi’s mega rally in Onitsha
A woman believed to be in her 90s, on Sunday, joined the mega rally organised by supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, in the commercial city of Onitsha in Anambra State, shutting down most streets in the city.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the nonagenarian was spotted with her walking stick while joyfully displaying a poster with the image of Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti, with a bold inscription, THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE.
Peter Obi’s supporters dare IPOB, shut down Onitsha with mega rally
Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, on Sunday dared the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, by staging a mega rally in the commercial city of Onitsha in Anambra State.
The rally shut down most streets in the city.
Recall that IPOB had kicked against the presidential ambition of Obi, saying they are not in support.
However, young men and women garbed in white polo shirts with Obi’s picture and inscription of his party started gathering at Zik Avenue at around 11:30am, from where they moved to other parts of the town.

Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, weekend paralyzed commercial and business activities in Makurdi the Benue state capital with a One-Million-Man- March tagged ‘Obitrek, We Are the Structure’.
The self march was attended by people from all walks of life including women, youths and the elderly in attendance.
The march which commenced from the popular IBB Square saw the participants driving and walking through major streets in the town bearing placards and singing solidarity songs in support of the presidential candidate and his vice.

Supporters of Peter Obi, on Saturday paralyzed commercial activities in the Garden City of Port Harcourt in a two million man march in support of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.
The demonstrators, who are mostly youths held the oil rich city to a standstill for hours as they march from street to street singing solidarity songs in support of Obi.

Tinubu will defeat Peter Obi hands down – Goodluck Jonahan’s ally
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Reno Omokri has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a more unique contender above the Labour Party (LP) flag bearer, Peter Obi in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election.
Omokri, while outlining Tinubu’s achievements in series of tweets, explained Obi lacks the characteristics necessary to lead the country compared to the former governor of Lagos State.

Crisis has hit the Labour Party, LP, Imo State chapter on Thursday over the constitution and inauguration of the OBI/DATTI campaign council by Prof. Pat Utomi.
The party described the development as a joke taken too far.

27,000 APC, PDP members dump decamp to Peter Obi’s Labour Party in Nasarawa
Emerging third force, the Labour Party, is set to bolster its ranks in Nasarawa State as 27,000 registered members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have pledged their allegiances to the party.
The party said plans have been set in motion to receive the defectors into its fold in the first week of September, 2022, The Punch reported.
Disclosing this on Saturday, August 20, 2022, was the state Chairman of the party, Alexander Emmanuel, who oversaw the inauguration of a new Labour Party office donated to the party by youth and women groups in Agyaragu community, Obi Local Government Area of the state.
Emmanuel noted that the new 27,000 defectors from the APC and PDP will add to the party’s one million supporters drawn from 56 support groups across the 13 LGAs of the state.

According to Adebanjo, Obi is better than Tinubu and Atiku in terms of “politics of principles.”

Adebanjo said, “I am talking of politics of principle. I know that Peter has not got the dollar of Tinubu nor has he got the dollar of Atiku.
Soludo welcomes Peter Obi to Anambra
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, on Friday paid the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Soludo and Obi met behind closed doors after which Obi lauded Soludo for the “great job he is doing in Anambra State.”

The venue of the meeting was filled to capacity.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, on Tuesday, has revealed why he doesn’t talk about the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
According to Uzodinma, although Obi is his Igbo brother, his business is to market the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the South East.
Uzodinma stated this during an interview with Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has described his meeting with Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi as a search for better Nigeria.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Obi had a secret meeting with some PDP top-shots in Port Harcourt in attendance.
The meeting is the second time Obi would meet with Wike after dumping the PDP and declaring his presidential ambition.

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, on Monday, has declared his support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The cleric said Obi has become a national project that deserves the support of every Nigerian.
He said that the popularity and acceptability was so high that the opponents and enemies alike would not be able to pull him down no matter the campaign of calumny.

Singer Frank Edwards has faulted those saying that Peter Obi’s supporters are only social media.

Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has asked Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party to prove to northerners that he’s not a supporter of the INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA, IPOB.
Garba said the only way northerners will believe Obi is for him to visit Arewa House and openly declare IPOB as a terrorists group.
He tweeted, “To disprove Miyetti Allah, Peter Obi should go to, organize a media conference & categorically call IPOB as terrorist that they are, like all senior political leaders from the North called Boko Haram & Bandits as terrorist.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed the possibility of a proposed rally for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, gaining any traction in Kaduna State.
Early Monday, El- Rufai quoted a tweet, calling for a two million man march in Kaduna for Obi, and said, “In Kaduna? Not Kaduna Twitter? –
“I hope you get Two Hundred persons on the streets, including those ‘imports’ that can’t open their shops on Mondays, and came on overnight bus last night!!

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has revealed that he’s ready to carry everybody along in his government if elected president of Nigeria in 2023.
Obi made the statement at the weekend when he featured in an interview on News Central TV.

Dino Melaye, the spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, has said it is not yet the time for Peter Obi of the Labour Party to become the president of Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Melaye said Peter Obi lacked what it takes to lead Nigeria as a president.

Adeyanju said Obi stole billions of naira from Anambra state while he was the governor and put it in his family business.
He also described Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate as a smart looter who milked the country dry as vice president between 1999-2007.

Femi Kuti insults Peter Obi’s supporters, calls them zombies
Femi Kuti, son of afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, has described supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, also known as “Obidients,” as zombies.
Zombie was the title of a studio album released in 1976 by his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, when he derided Nigerian soldiers as a bunch of robotic and senseless individuals.
“You know what obedience means? Stand up, sit down, sit there — zombie,” Mr Kuti said during a performance at the Shrine Thursday night in Lagos, wondering why Mr Obi’s popularity has grown rapidly in recent months.
“How can you be Obidient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at 60, why am I Obidient? You said I should be Obidient, sit down, be peaceful,” he said. “Are you all okay in this country?”
