The Jigawa State Police Command has successfully dismantled a suspected armed robbery syndicate, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals in Dutse.

In an official statement to the press, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Shiisu Lawan Adam, provided details of the operation.

The incident unfolded last week when the police received an urgent distress call reporting an assault by five armed criminals at a residence in the G9 quarters of Dutse Local Government Area.

Reports indicated that the assailants subjected the victim to a brutal assault before absconding with numerous valuable items, including a 2011 model black Honda Accord, two plasma televisions, an HP laptop computer, and a Redmi Note 11pro phone.

The victim was promptly rushed to General Hospital Dutse for medical treatment, and the case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for a thorough investigation.

DSP Adam explained that the diligent efforts of the investigative team led to the arrest of three suspects: 28-year-old Umar Abubakar from Bompai Miller Road in Kano State, 24-year-old Yakubu Mohammed, and 28-year-old Zakariyya Dahiru, both hailing from Yalleman town in Kaugama Local Government Area.

These suspects confessed to forcibly entering the victim’s residence, inflicting harm on him, and making off with his motor vehicle and other belongings.

They also identified Umar Abubakar, known as Messi, and Hassan Kura as their accomplices who remain at large.

He noted that the command remains committed to apprehending the remaining fleeing suspects.

He said the arrested individuals will undergo a discreet investigation at SCID Dutse and will be arraigned in court to face appropriate legal action after the investigation.

The Command, however, urged the public to continue providing relevant information that may aid ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the state.
