Premier League Ends 25-Year Nike Partnership, Puma Named New Ball Supplier

The Premier League has announced that Puma will become its official match ball supplier starting from the 2025-26 season, ending a 25-year partnership with Nike.

Nike, which has held the role since the 2000-01 campaign, had the chance to extend its contract, but negotiations failed to yield a new agreement. Reports in 2023 had suggested the Premier League was preparing to switch to Puma once Nike’s deal expired this summer.

“We are delighted to welcome Puma as the official ball supplier of the Premier League,” said Premier League CEO Richard Masters. “Puma has a proud history in football, and we look forward to seeing their ball in use from this summer onwards.”

The German sportswear company already boasts a strong presence in English football, sponsoring Manchester City since 2019 and endorsing top players like Kai Havertz, James Maddison, and Jordan Pickford.

Puma also supplies official match balls for La Liga, Serie A, and the English Football League, and sponsors prominent clubs including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Palmeiras.

Nike’s two-decade collaboration with the Premier League saw them deliver iconic match ball designs and support community initiatives like ‘No Room For Racism’ and ‘Rainbow Laces’.

Puma CEO Arne Freundt called the deal “an important step in Puma’s brand elevation strategy,” adding: “With our ball at the heart of every match in this incredible league, we aim to create unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.”
