Morocco 2025: Nigeria qualifies for FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup

Despite the chilly conditions in Blida, located on the outskirts of Algiers, Nigeria’s U17 women’s team secured their spot in this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals with a goalless draw on Friday night.
With a commanding 4-0 advantage from the first leg, the Flamingos played with composure, successfully withstanding pressure from the Algerian hosts. They adopted a disciplined defensive approach and relied on counterattacks to threaten the opposition.
Although they had the better chances throughout the match, the Flamingos were unable to convert their possession into goals, but they clinched the ticket to Morocco with a 4-0 aggregate victory.
The decisive moment came in the first leg, where Queen Joseph scored twice, while Zainab Raji and substitute Aisha Animashaun each added one goal, securing the 4-0 win.
Now, Nigeria will represent Africa alongside Morocco at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place from October 17 to November 5. For the first time, the competition will feature 24 teams.
Since the tournament’s inception in 2008 in New Zealand, Nigeria has only missed the finals once – during the 2018 edition in Uruguay.
