Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has engaged in a meeting with the leaders of the coup that successfully took control of the government in Niger Republic.

This development comes in the wake of a previous occurrence where the junta abruptly cancelled a scheduled meeting with envoys from prominent entities including the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and a high-ranking United States diplomat.

Sanusi’s interaction with the coup leaders underscores his involvement in regional diplomatic activities, particularly in the context of political transitions and shifts in leadership. His engagement with the newly-installed leaders of Niger Republic showcases his ability to navigate complex political landscapes and his role as a bridge between different stakeholders.
