Otti appoints Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi, others in Abia State Advisory Council

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has unveiled the members of the 19-man Abia State Global Economic Advisory Council (AGEAC). The council, aimed at providing strategic insights and recommendations to guide the state’s economic and investment policies, boasts a distinguished lineup including Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ms. Arunma Oteh, and former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

Other notable members include former ICAN President, Chidi Ajegbu, Mr. Bolaji Balogun, and Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui Okauru. Additionally, Otti revealed that five members from the State Executive Council, including himself, the Attorney-General, Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Commissioner for Finance, and Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industry, will represent the state government on the Advisory Council.

Governor Otti emphasized that the establishment of AGEAC aligns with his administration’s strategic plan to foster the overall economic development of Abia State. The council, comprised of individuals with diverse expertise, will collaborate closely with relevant State Commissioners to address challenges and seize opportunities, ensuring Abia State’s continued prominence in innovation and economic development, both regionally and globally.

To oversee the council’s operations, Otti appointed Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu as the head of the Secretariat, assisted by Mr. Charles Egonye, with additional support from Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko and Ms. Amaka Okonkwo from the private sector. The Governor expressed confidence that the collective knowledge and experience of the council members will play a crucial role in shaping policies that drive innovation, attract investments, and fortify the overall economic resilience of the state.
