The Nigerian Senate has urged the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba. The Senate is committed to ensuring that those responsible for his death are held accountable for their actions.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Creative Economy, Elisha Abbo, conveyed this message during a condolence visit to Mrs. Adebose Olumuyi, the mother of Mohbad, in Lekki, Lagos. The delegation, which included Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo, aimed to express their condolences to the grieving family and address the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
“We want to first of all condole with the family; nobody can bring Mohbad back, and we love him. What I can assure you is that the government of Nigeria will do everything within its power to investigate this matter thoroughly, and if everybody’s hand is involved, the person would be brought to justice,” affirmed Abbo.
He announced that the Senate would summon the police to brief the National Assembly on the progress of the investigation. Abbo stressed the importance of a transparent inquiry to shed light on the matter.
“The Senate will resume on the 26th of September, which is a few days from now. And we are assuring you that the Senate, which belongs to the Nigerian people, will look into this without any sentiment. We will invite the police to come and brief us on what they have done so far on this matter,” he added.
The Senators advised protesting youth to refrain from taking to the streets, emphasizing the potential hijacking of peaceful demonstrations by individuals with ulterior motives. They encouraged a cautious and calculated approach, urging for justice in Mohbad’s name.
Mrs. Olumuyi, Mohbad’s mother, expressed her gratitude to the Senator and called on the government to swiftly bring her son’s killers to justice.
Tonto Dikeh also spoke out, affirming their dedication to seeking justice for Mohbad. She highlighted Mohbad’s significance as a son and friend, promising solidarity and a relentless pursuit of justice for the departed.
In this quest for truth and justice, the nation’s focus remains on the ongoing investigation and the steps that will be taken to ensure accountability for Mohbad’s untimely passing.
