Senator Abba Moro buries mother in-law in Ado LGA

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, PhD, on Saturday led a grand farewell ceremony for his late in-law, Mama Eneogbu Omanchi, effectively shutting down Ado Local Government Area for the occasion.
The burial rites began on Thursday with a Christian wake in Makurdi and culminated on Saturday in Igumale with a solemn lying-in-state and funeral service attended by family members, friends, political associates, and dignitaries from across the country.
Delivering an emotional tribute at the service, Senator Moro described Mama Eneogbu as more than a mother-in-law—he said she was a true mother to him in every sense.
“To me personally, Mama was more than a mother-in-law; she was a pillar of support, a source of inspiration, and a symbol of compassion and grace,” he said.
“She lived a long, impactful, and fulfilling life—one marked by strength, dignity, and uncommon wisdom. Her legacy of kindness, deep faith, and devotion to family and community will forever remain in our hearts.
“Mama’s passing is not only a loss to her immediate family but also to everyone who was touched by her gentle spirit and unwavering character. Apart from my biological mother, no one has shown me as much love as Mama did.
“She accomplished all that life demanded, and though I wish she could live forever, we must submit to the will of God.
“I pledge to support the family in preserving her legacy and continuing the values she lived for, so her memory remains alive.”
He concluded with prayers for her peaceful repose, expressing deep sorrow at her passing.
Senator Moro was accompanied by a large entourage, including notable figures such as Chief (Mrs) Helen Mark, wife of former Senate President; Rt. Hon. Mike Audu, Minority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly; PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji; and several members of the Benue State House of Assembly, including Rt. Hon. Anthony Agom (Okpokwu) and Hon. Isaac Ochekliye (Ohimini).
Other dignitaries in attendance included Chief Hon. James Ogaba Oche, Benue State Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission; Hon. James Uloko, Executive Director, North Central Development Commission (NCDC); former council chairmen, party executives, women leaders, and stakeholders from across Zone C.
