The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, on Friday paid his last tribute to Tunde Jonathan Mark at the requiem mass held in honor of the deceased in Otukpo, Benue State.

Visibly grieved Senator Moro, in his speech, said Tunde’s death was a big blow to the State, particularly the Idoma nation. He said he had repeatedly asked Tunde why he died when he knew very well that he wasn’t certainly prepared for the journey, but that Tunde hasn’t been able to answer him.

His words, “It’s a moment of grief for all of us and I insist that it’s a very difficult time, the time that words can fail you, when you lose a very vibrant, young and upcoming leader particularly the one that you are very close to. I have asked myself questions and I have asked Tunde questions that I know is not in his position to give answers to, and I say ‘Why now’? ‘Tunde why you, when you know very well that you are certainly not prepared for this journey?’

Senator Moro wondered why bad things happen to good men. He said a good man like Senator David Mark who has given his all to his country shouldn’t be one to be in the pains of losing a dear son like Tunde.

“Tunde’s passage brought to the fore the mystery of life. And from the family of a man who has given his all to Nigeria, you want to wonder why do bad things happen to good men, because certainly Senator David Mark, GCON, is a good man.”

The Senator harped on the need for people to live a life that is impactful, a life of service to God and humanity so that when one dies, he can be remembered for good, like Tunde is being remembered for the good and fruitful life he lived.

“As has been repeatedly said here and succinctly captured by Shakespeare, The world is a stage and all of us have our entrances and exits. Tunde is lying down here and we have been watching, I want to believe that you feel that he is living on. Yes, Tunde lives on in our minds and hearts.

“For the moment we grief, because we talk to him and he can’t talk to us but the essence of life is not how long you live but how well you have lived. From every indication and utterances from people here, Tunde lived a very impactful, a very fruitful and eventful life.

“For the rest of us, what’s life afterall? What about those of us who won’t be remembered for anything good when we die? Because we are all mortals we must die some day, and we do not choose when and how to die. What will you be remembered for?”

Senator Moro sympathized with the family and prayed God to give them the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.

“Today, for the family of Tunde Jonathan Mark, it’s certainly sunset at dawn but for everyone across the globe that’s here, the family should take consolation in the fact that within a very short period of time they had a son who impacted on the whole world, a father who impacted on the lives of so many people.

“We owe them our prayers because this is certainly an irreplaceable loss. May God give the family and all of us the strength to bear this loss.”
