Dr Felix Lawani, the elder brother of the woman being said to be the COVID-19 index case in Benue State, Susan Okpe, has said that the woman is traumatized.

Dr Lawani lamented that his sister was psychologically traumatised and had refused to be treated or her samples tested again.

He said, “You know that she is psychologically traumatised due to the manner she was treated in Benue when the result came out that time. We, the family, were against the way it was announced, thereafter, she refused to cooperate and to run test anymore.

“She has no symptoms and nothing is happening to her since she got to National Hospital, Abuja. So for over a week now she has gone to National hospital, Abuja, she has not done any test.

“The only thing they (medical personnel) did is they met her and asked her if she should be treated for malaria, she thinks people can cook up anything if she should run test.”

He added, “But now, her relations are trying to convince her to run another test since the public is behind her but her position is how to guarantee that when her sample is taken,  it will be taken to proper designated laboratory and the result will be brought to her instead of through another channel.”

Dr Lawani suggested that government should engage a psychologist to talk with her and can convince her and give her assurance that her sample would be taken by the NCDC and the result would have the authentication of the NCDC.
