Suspect confesses to receiving human parts from Muslim cleric for rituals
On Friday, the Police in Oyo State showcased a 45-year-old suspected ritualist, Hassan Kolawole, who was found in possession of a fresh human head in Ibadan, the state capital. The State Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, presented Kolawole, alongside nine others apprehended for diverse offenses across various spots in the state, at the command headquarters in Eleyele.
In discussions with journalists, the accused openly admitted to the crime, stating that he acquired the fresh human head and two hands, discovered in his possession, from a Muslim cleric.
Kolawole disclosed, “Struggling with providing for my wife and two children due to financial hardships, I met Waheed, an Islamic cleric, during a Maolud event. We conversed about money rituals involving human parts, a process I was unfamiliar with. He assured me he could procure the necessary parts. Eventually, at Amuloko, we met where he delivered the human parts. I stored them in my office, which I utilized for spiritual assistance to people in need.”
He further explained that on the day he received the head and hands from Waheed, the police conducted a search of his office, but Waheed had absconded by then.
In a parallel occurrence, nine suspects apprehended from various locations within the state were also presented, their alleged crimes encompassing murder, kidnapping, cult-related activities, and theft.
