Troops recover stolen cow, rescue driver from mob attack in Kaduna
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have recovered a rustled cow and rescued a driver from an attempted mob attack following a cattle rustling incident in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources disclosed that troops of Sub-Sector 6 responded to a distress call at about 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of cattle rustling in Wuro Goshe Village.
According to the sources, the suspected rustlers fled the area on sighting the advancing troops, abandoning a vehicle loaded with a cow believed to have been stolen.
The troops secured the scene and recovered the animal. They also intervened to rescue the driver of the abandoned vehicle from an attempted lynching by angry youths who had gathered at the location.
The injured driver was evacuated to the Jaji Military Cantonment Medical Centre, where he received medical attention.
Following preliminary investigations, authorities identified the recovered cow and returned it to its rightful owner.
The abandoned vehicle has been taken into military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the cattle rustling incident.
