Suspected kidnappers abducted about six people from Nuru Suraj Estate in the Millennium City area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Tuesday, while military personnel reportedly rescued some of the victims.

A resident, Maman Hamid, said the attackers entered the estate through its second gate before abducting the victims.

Hamid added that military personnel pursued the suspects, forcing them to flee after rescuing some of the abducted residents.

However, the number of victims rescued and the whereabouts of the others remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over security in Millennium City, a developing residential area on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis that has witnessed several kidnapping incidents in recent years.

On October 6, suspected kidnappers reportedly abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate in the area. Security operatives later rescued the family.

Similarly, on October 12, the police announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido. The operation also led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles.

Despite these operations, residents continue to express fears over attacks on residential estates and surrounding communities.

The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to comment on Tuesday’s reported abduction as of the time of filing this report.
