Workers demand palliative action in Delta state

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Delta State has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to implement palliative measures aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by workers and citizens following the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During a press briefing in Asaba, the state chairman of NLC, Goodluck Ofobruku, stressed the urgent need for action. He outlined some proposed palliatives, including reducing taxes, increasing basic salaries, providing transport and utility allowances, and offering subsidized bus services for transportation.

Goodluck expressed concern about the daily suffering endured by the people, warning that the situation could escalate if not addressed promptly, as hunger often leads to frustration. He emphasized that the current low wages of workers in the state make it increasingly challenging for them to cope with such hardships.

Despite the difficulties, the NLC leader urged workers to remain patient and dedicated to their jobs, assuring them that the organization is actively engaging with the government to seek a timely resolution to the issue.
