14 suspected vote buyers arrested, N11m seized in Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi raids

Officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 14 individuals suspected of involvement in vote-buying activities. These arrests were made in Otueke, Adawari playgrounds in Bayelsa State, as well as various polling units in Imo and Kogi states.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed this development. In a statement released on Saturday, he stated that a total sum of N11,040,000 had been seized during the operation.

This amount comprises N9,310,000 confiscated from suspected vote buyers and sellers in Bayelsa and N1,730,000 intercepted from individuals suspected of electoral fraud in Imo State.

Additionally, two vehicles belonging to the suspects were also seized. The suspects will face legal charges once investigations are concluded.
