The people of Itabono Owukpa have cried out to the Benue State Government through the local government to come to their aid and fix the dilapidated road.

The road, which links neigbouring Obollo-Eke in Udenu LGA of Enugu State has been in a sorry state, especially during rainy season.

A community leader in the area told IDOMA VOICE that the last time the road was graded was in 2015 when one of their daughters, Adah Chenge was aspiring to govern the state.

The community leader, who gave his name as Noah, said it is sad that the same road leads to the country home of many prominent politicians from Owukpa.

He called on the state government to come to their aid to make the road motorable a bit.

Also, speaking on the sorry state of the state, social activist and former student leader, Abba Anthony Ekere said the road needed urgent attention as it has turned to a death trap.

He wrote, “Here is Itabono road in Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State..

“In a society where the government knows what it’s doing, Owukpa should be on the map of the world, a community with high deposits of quantity and quality coal shouldn’t be this backward.

“The federal government diversification policy will struggle to make greater impact if natural resources like the coal deposit in Owukpa continue in reckless abandon.

“The road leading to Itabono community in Owukpa is a nightmare, very dangerous to drive or ride bike on it, especially in the rainy season.

“Itabono Owukpa road needs urgent attention.”
