Police arrest suspect over counterfeit naira production in Abia
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, John Paul, over alleged counterfeit naira production in Obikabia community, Aba.
Police operatives also recovered seven bundles of fake N200 notes during a raid on the suspected hideout.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Friday. She said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation following actionable intelligence.
Chinaka added that the police had launched an investigation to uncover the activities of the suspected counterfeit currency syndicate.
She said the command was also working to apprehend other members of the group who fled before or during the operation.
The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, remained committed to protecting residents and maintaining security throughout Abia State.
