26-year-old lawyer collapses, dies while celebrating Ghana’s World Cup victory

A 26-year-old lawyer, Sarah Araba Tettey, has reportedly died after collapsing while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

According to Ghanaian media outlet Citi Newsroom, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at Standard Hostel, a privately owned accommodation facility located in Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Tettey, who graduated from the university’s Faculty of Law, was said to be watching the match alongside friends when she suddenly slumped during celebrations that followed Ghana’s win.

She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel reportedly attempted to resuscitate her. However, she was later confirmed dead.

Tettey was recently called to the Ghana Bar and was practising law with O & A Legal Consult, according to the report.

Her passing has triggered widespread reactions online, with friends, colleagues, and former classmates expressing shock and paying tribute to a young professional many described as talented and full of promise.

As of the time this report was filed, her family had not released an official statement concerning the circumstances surrounding her death.

Reports indicate that her remains have been deposited in a mortuary pending further arrangements.

The exact cause of death has not yet been officially established by either her family or medical authorities.
